Saqlain Mushtaq (born December 29, 1976) is a Pakistani cricketer and member of the Pakistani cricket team since 1995. He was born in Lahore, Punjab. He made his international debut against Sri Lanka at Peshawar. His bowling style is off spin. He has taken over 200 Test wickets. His ODI figures are 288 wickets at an average of 21.78. He last played Test cricket for Pakistan against Bangladesh in September 2003. He has taken over 500 first class wickets.
Saqlain can turn the ball, however it is his variation that has raised eyebrows. He has an effective arm ball and has been credited with inventing the 'doosra'. Saqlain is not contented with stopping there; he is currently working on the 'teesra'.
He has been dropped from the Pakistani side, partly because he has used his variations too frequently, allowing opposing batsmen to effectively attack them.
