Sarah Lane - Definition and Overview

Sarah Lane

Sarah Lane was born on October 12, 1976 in Sebastopol, California and attended the University of San Francisco where she received a bachelor's degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts. She is the senior segment producer and on-air talent for G4techTV's nightly variety show The Screen Savers, where she shows off registry hacks and software downloads.

Sarah joined TechTV in February 2001 after working several years for KRON-TV where she produced a weekly half-hour hi-tech newsmagazine program. She is currently dating co-worker Kevin Rose, who also appears on The Screen Savers. Sarah is one of the few TSS crew members left after its move to Los Angeles, which resulted in the firing of many past employees.

Sarah Lane and Wikipedia

On the live June 12, 2003 episode she "vandalised" the Wikipedia page on monkeypox, by writing "Sarah Lane is totally cool and does not have monkeypox." [1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Monkeypox&diff=1029085&oldid=1029083) She later wrote "Sarah Lane is a cool Screen Saver. Down with Monkeypox."

She later wrote that:

"Although this excites me in its ease and simplicity, it's a little frightening. I mean, what if I had instead written 'My boss is a big fat cat and his phone number is available for girls who love geeks'? Sure, somebody would delete it, but this calls for some seriously dedicated moderators."

Although Wikipedia became better known among TechTV viewers and the public in general, it led to an influx of vandalism, both to the Monkeypox page and Wikpedia in general.
