Scioto River - Definition and Overview

The Scioto River is a river of central and southern Ohio. It rises in Auglaize County in west central Ohio, flows through Columbus, and meets the Ohio River at Portsmouth. Too small for commercial shipping, its primary economic importance is for recreation and drinking water.

Part of the Scioto River valley was part of the Teays River valley before the last glaciation.
