The Seattle Symphony Orchestra is an American orchestra based in Seattle, Washington. Gerard Schwarz is its current music director. The group often performs the works of 20th century composers, and many recordings are available on various labels. Over 300,000 people each year attend performances of this Grammy-award-winning orchestra in Benaroya Hall, which is located in downtown Seattle. Its season runs from September through July.

The orchestra was founded on December 29, 1903, by Harry West, as the Seattle Symphony. In 1911, it was renamed the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra. It took its current name in 1919.
