  • June 1858: Lord Stanley becomes President of the Board of Control. Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton enters the cabinet and replaces Stanley as Colonial Secretary.

  • March 1859: Spencer Walpole and J.W. Henley resign over the proposed Reform Bill, and are replaced by Thomas Sotheron-Estcourt and Lord Donoughmore, respectively.
