Seven Wonders of the Medieval Mind - Definition

The Seven Wonders of the Medieval Mind is the result of modifications and rewritings of the Wonders of the World lists by medieval scholars and philosophers. As the memories of ancient wonders faded and new fascinating things were built, old items were gradually purged from the lists and replaced by then-modern achievements. At some point, the consensus emerged that included the following wonders (spanning almost 4500 years of human history).

• The Colosseum (in Rome)
• The Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa
• The Great Wall of China (Northern China)
• The Porcelain Tower (in Nanjing, China)
• The Hagia Sophia (Turkey)
• The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy)
