Sidney Preston Osborn (1884-1948) was the 10th Governor of Arizona and is, to this day, the only governor to serve four consecutive terms. His governing style was one of no-nonsense. The best example was shown at the very beginning of his governorship. Upon taking office, Osborn had the state's top officials write a resignation letter, sign it, and give it to him. If the official became an embarrassment to the state, Osborn will write a date on the letter, and announce the official has resigned. At his fourth term, Osborn suffered from Lou Gehrig's Disease and was barely able to communicate with his staff. He eventually died in office. Osborn was succeeded by Dan Garvey.
