Silver Nemesis - Definition and Overview

The episode Silver Nemesis was one of the last Doctor Who episodes made with Sylvester McCoy and reflected a darker turn in Doctor Who storylines, with the intention being to reveal the dark secrets of Doctor Who. The story incorperates terrestrial, extra terrestrial and temporal elements, as Tudor time travellers, Neo Nazi's, Cybermen and Doctor Who converge in the grounds of an English Stately house. They are seeking to control a powerful weapon, known as The Silver Nemesis which requires the statue, silver bow, and silver arrow to be combined together before becoming a weapon of mass destruction-a design taken from the Gallifrey's founder Rasillon. The statue knows the doctor, and apparently is a sentient being, who wishes (her?) freedom from service, but whose empathic powers have caused conflicts on earth, supposedly helping cause the Second World War. This kind of Psychoactive technology appears in many alien cultures in 'who-niverse'

To get the doctor to comply the searchers use different techniques; The Neo-Nazi's expect the doctor to help, as the believe him to be human. The Cybermen threaten to destroy Earth if he does not help, and the Time Traveller Lady Peinforte threatens to reveal the doctor's dark secret...

The Doctor's Dark Secret?

Speculation continues...rumours suggest that more might be revealed in the forthcoming series. We know that Doctor Who has risked the wrath of his planet (Gallifrey) on more than one occasion, and chose to leave his planet for some unknown disgrace, acquiring the TARDIS to leave. It has been suggested that the doctor is one of the older timelords, and possibly was involved in the 'old time' where the Timelords used their powers without ethics, a time which the moral doctor is now ashamed about.
