Skototropism Skototropism

Skototropism - Definition and Overview

Skototropism is a tendency of vines—such as English ivy (Hedera helix)—to creep toward darkness: the orientation of growth tips on some vines is toward the darkest place. It is a type of negative phototropism.

[Formed from Greek skotos, “darkness” + tropism].
