Mascot of the Dragon Quest console role-playing game franchise, and also one of the many types of monster that can be found in the games. It looks like a water drop with a big smile and eyes, and has also been compared to an onion. There are many different types of slime in the game :
- Slime — A typical blue (male) or red (female) smiling drop of water.
- Metal Slime — Completely covered with hard metal armor, the Metal Slime offers great rewards to anyone who can manage to destroy it.
- Babble (bubble slime) — A melted slime with a poisonous attack.
- Metal Babble — Like the Metal Slime, the Metal Babble is a touch nut to crack, but the amount of money it drops makes it more than worthwhile.
- Healer Slime — An airborne slime, resembling a jellyfish, with the power to heal its allies.
- Marine Slime — This slime inhabits a conch shell and looks vaguely like a hermit crab.
- Slime Knight — A hobbit knight with a slime as its steed.
- King Slime — Befitting royalty, this slime wears a crown on its head.
- Metal King — Just like the Metal Slime, only tougher and stronger. And far more lucrative to anyone who can best it in combat.
- Gold Slime — A slime shaped like a huge jewel.
- Platinium King — A jewelled slime composed of platinium. The stuff of legends.
- Spot Slime — A common yellow slime with brown spots, like a Dalmatian.
- Dragon Slime — A winged reptillian slime with the ability to breathe fire.

Making Slime
You can make a mostly harmless though entertaining slimy substance using the following ingredients;
- borax (available in hardware or convenience stores)
- pva glue, e.g. white wood glue (available in hardware or convenience stores) based on polyvinyl acetate.
- water
Combining the ingredients in the correct order and proportion produces a thick tacky fluid like material. A good external source for detailed quantities & instructions can be found at [www.madsci.org (http://www.madsci.org/experiments/archive/878680114.Ch.html)]
The result is an opaque viscous polymer, damp to touch but very tactile when squashed between your fingers.
Using polyvinyl alcohol instead of the glue results in a transparent slime.
Your slime can be enhanced by adding a small quantity of food colouring to the mixture.
- Conduct further research if you are worried about the health effects of using borax or Polyvinyl_chloride based products
The Band
There also existed a German punk band from Hamburg named "Slime".
