Sobelair - Definition and Overview

Sobelair is the oldest Belgian charter airline. While operational, it was based out of Brussels International Airport. Its ICAO code was "SLR". Sobelair is the abbreviation of its Belgian name, "Société Belge des Transports Aériens".

The airline was founded in 1946 by three ex-employees of Sabena. On January 19th, 2004, the airline declared bankruptcy. Sabena, its mother airline, had done so about 2 years earlier.
