Synonyms and common names

Nightshade, as well as referring to the related genus Atropa, is also used for many members of the genus Solanum. The name is also extended to the family Solanaceae.

Solanum is also the name of a hypothetical virus that, after entering the human body, could turn it into a real-life equivalent of a zombie. See: zombie for further information.
