Solihull is a metropolitan borough in the West Midlands of England.
The borough contains the historic town of Solihull, a part of the Birmingham urban area, in several disconnected parts, along with a large rural area.
The borough includes Birmingham International Airport, the National Exhibition Centre, and Birmingham International railway station.
It was formed in 1974 by the merger of Solihull County Borough and Meriden Rural District, which forms the main rural part of the borough and county.
