Soul Coughing (1993–2000) was a New York, New York, musical band, whose music blended hip-hop rhythms, jazz sounds, rock, and samples.
The band was composed of M. Doughty, vocalist and guitarist; Mark De Gli Antoni, who played synthesizer and sampler; Sebastian Steinberg, who played the double bass; and drummer Yuval Gabay.
The band released three albums: 1994's Ruby Vroom, 1996's Irresistible Bliss, and 1998's El Oso. Also, released following their breakup, was 2002's Lust in Phaze, a greatest-hits complilation including a few b-sides and other rarities.
