The South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SECR) came about on January 1 1899, when the undertaking of the South Eastern Railway joined with that of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway under a Managing Committee composed of the directors of the two companies.
After the formation of the SECR three minor lines were built, before the SECR became one of the constituent parts of the Southern Railway. They were:
