South Herefordshire - Definition and Overview

South Herefordshire was an English local government district, based around Ross-on-Wye.

It was formed on April 1, 1974 as part of a large scale local government reorganisation, and became a district of the new administrative county of Hereford and Worcester. The district entirely surrounded the district of Hereford.

On April 1, 1998, the district was abolished as Herefordshire was split out from Hereford and Worcester as a unitary authority.
