South Norwood is an area of South London, in the London Borough of Croydon. In common with West Norwood and Upper Norwood it is named after a contraction of Great North Wood. Crystal Palace F.C. play at Selhurst Park which is between South Norwood and Selhurst. Arthur Conan Doyle lived at Tennison Road, South Norwood, from 1891 to 1894, and used the area as the setting for a Sherlock Holmes story, "The Adventure of the Norwood Builder".
