Some theoreticians consider spacewarp to be one of three possible methods of interstellar space travel (or even intergalactic travel), the other two being timewarp and transwarp. The idea behind spacewarp as a means of spacecraft propulsion is to displace energy strings from in front of a spacecraft to behind it. The film Contact utilized the idea of spacewarp in Ellie's travel across deep space.
