Phenomenon generally associated with skateboarding and in which the front trucks of skateboard wobble due to the latent resonant frequency of the skateboard. Speed wobbles are an incredibly complex phenomenon and are generally not well understood. While a skateboard may have many resonant frequencies, speed wobbles are generally only seen at higher speeds, hence the name. To prevent the oscillations either adjust speed (up or down) or crouch down and touch the board. Speed wobbles can also be seen in no-hand bike riding and street luge. Also known as a shimmy.
