A small ,herringlike,marine fish, Clupea sprattus, of Europe.Silver grey scale,about 12% fat in flesh,white-grey flesh, a lot of vitamins.Used for food canned,salted, fried,grilled,baked,marinaded etc.
Clupeonella cultriventris, found in the Caspian, Black,Azov seas.Lifetime till 6 years,length till 14-15 cm, spinal column 41-45,12%fat in flesh,white-grey flesh, silver-grey scale.Peak of spawning in April.Found in enormous shoals in sea-shores,filled all-round coastal shallows , moving quickly back in the sea at a depth of 6-30 meters.Used for food.
