Star Song Communications was started in 1976 by Darrell Harris. Originally a distribution deal was made with Benson Records. From 1983 until 1986 distribution was done by Word Records, from then the records were distributed via Tempo Records. In 1994, Star Songs was acquired by EMI and shortly afterwards put together with Sparrow Records. In 1998 it was announced that Star Songs would only be used to issue reprints.
