Steklov Institute of Mathematics is a shorthand name of Petersburg Department of Steklov Institute of Mathematics of Russian Academy of Sciences or PDMI RAS. The PDMI RAS is a research institute specialized in Mathematics located in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The institute is named after Vladimir Andreevich Steklov.
The Petersburg Department is a little misleading. It is a part of the official name kept purely for historical reasons. There are no other divisions of this Institute. All former divisions became independent.
