Sterno is a canned, jellied petroleum product sold for heating uses. It is designed to be burned directly from its can. Primary use is in the food service industry (buffet heating). Other uses are for camp stoves and as an emergency heat source.

Sterno is made from ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, water and an amphoteric oxide gelling agent. The product is designed to be odorless. A seven ounce (198 g) can will burn for two hours.
