Stilgar is a fictional character featured in Frank Herbert's Dune universe. He is a key character in the science fiction novels Dune, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.
The character stilgar becomes the leader of Fremen after Liet-Kynes is killed. He meets Paul Atreides (Muad'Dib) in the first novel Dune where he spares Paul's life as he is supposed to be a messiah according to a prophecy. By the end of Dune he is in awe of Paul considers him to be his emperor like the other Fremen. In the second (Dune Messiah) and third (Children of Dune) novel he is a staunch helper/supporter of Paul and Paul's children, Leto II and Ghanima, respectively.
