Storm Rave - Definition

Storm Rave or better still, STORMrave was the very first authentic Underground Electronic Music Event in America. I created the most unique type of All Night Dance Party from being directly involved with Energy in London. From being a regular name at all Energy Events, I got my first Los Angeles booking from promoters who thought they were booking a U.K. talent. Seeing what potential America had for its own unique scene, I started gathering friends together at small 'micro-raves' and from a room of 15 people, each gathering doubled in size - 30, then 60, then 120. In one year we went from 15 to 5000 people. And these events were not in Dance Clubs. We were able to find people to let us use their property to film a music video. When 5000 people turned up they were there as 'Extras' in a video. Police would turn up but usually were quite astonished that there was nothing but people dancing in unison. It was a new scene and nobody knew they 'stereotypes'. It was just good times. The actual STORMrave events were held in Brooklyn/Queens and Staten Island in 1992. There was 8 actual organized STORMraves. Starting in March 1992 and the last one on December 12, 1992. Would you figure that on the last night the Eastern Atlantic Coast would have a freak storm. A 'Noreaster' where over a foot of snow fell. It never snows like that before a new year.
