Stratford station - Definition and Overview

Stratford station is a London Underground and National Rail station at Stratford.

• On the Jubilee Line it is the eastern terminus with West Ham the next station.
• On the Central Line it is between Mile End and Leyton.
• On the Docklands Light Railway it is the northern terminus with Pudding Mill Lane the next station.
• On the North London Line it is between Hackney Wick and West Ham.
• On the 'one' route it is between Liverpool Street and Maryland.

It is in zone 3.

At the same level as the Central Line platforms is the High Level station, served by one Great Eastern. Two c2c trains pass through the station each day as well on the way from Liverpool Street to Southend or vice versa. Platform 7 has been decommissioned, but there is an additional platform, numbered 10A.

Under these platforms are two platforms (Stratford Low Level) served by Silverlink on the North London Line. The three Jubilee line platforms are nearby.

On railway tickets, the station is called "Stratford London" to avoid confusion with Stratford-upon-Avon.

When the Channel Tunnel Rail Link is completed, a station will have been built near to this station at Stratford International station, along with a DLR extension. Travellers will then be able to catch a direct train from Stratford to Lille, Paris or Brussels.

Further expansion is planned both on the DLR — to increase capacity (which is a major problem at peak times) and to serve Stratford International — and with the Crossrail project, which would bring a direct, fast link straight into Central London, further encouraging the regeneration of London E15.
