Streetlight Manifesto - Definition and Overview

Streetlight Manifesto is a ska band from New Jersey. The band, formed by ex-Catch 22 frontman Tomas Kalnoky, is a member of the Risc Group.

The band consists of 7 members. Kalnoky plays the guitar and lead vocals. Josh Ansley played bass but recently left to pursue other interests, Chris Thatcher plays drums, and the horn section of the band consists of Dan Ross on baritone saxophone, Jim Conti on tenor saxophone, Mike Soprano on trombone, and Jamie Egan on trumpet.

Egan was also a member Catch 22 in the past, and is a music teacher at Central New Jersey high school.

The band released its first CD, Everything Goes Numb, on August 26, 2003.

Members of Streetlight Manifesto also, before the band's first full-length studio release, collaborated with a handful of other musicians to record the Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution (BOTAR) EP, "A Call to Arms". Included on the five track, independently released album is "Here's to Life", which became a Streetlight Manifesto song, and "Dear Sergio", a Catch 22 (band) song from when Kalnoky was still with the band.

Streetlight's merchandise is run by Knowles, and Jeff Smith, also known as "The Diner on Route Nine."

Rob Thatcher is listed on the band's website as Streetlight's "go-to guy," whatever that means.

The bassist, Josh Ansley, left in an abrupt manner. A September 19th, 2004 show was slated to be his last, however, he was not at the show. However, Chris Paszik, formerly of One Cool Guy filled in at the show, which was at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park in New Jersey. Additionally, the September 19th show is the first, and so far only live performance of "Dear Sergio" by Tomas Kalnoky.

It is rumored that Streetlight Manifesto will release a second full-length CD in early 2005.
