Subarctic Subarctic

Subarctic - Definition and Overview

The subarctic is a region in the Northern Hemisphere immediately south of the true Arctic and covering much of Canada and Siberia. In the Köppen climate classification system it is defined as the region where mean monthly temperatures are above 10 °C for at least one and at most three months of the year. This corresponds to Köppen climate types Cfc, Dfc and Dfd.

Subarctic regions are often characterized by taiga forest vegetation.
