Central Sumoto from Mt. Mikoma Sumoto (洲本市; -shi) is a city located on Awaji island and in Hyogo, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 40,234 and the density of 323.84 persons per km². The total area is 124.24 km².
The city was founded on February 11, 1940.
There are five public junior high schools: Seiun, Suhama, Yura, Aiga, Nakagawara
There are several high schools: Sumoto, Sumoto Jitsugyou, etc.
