The Sun Industry Standards Source License (SISSL) is recognized as a free and open license by the Free Software Foundation and the Open Source Initiative. Under SISSL, developers may modify and distribute source code and derived binaries freely. Furthermore, developers can choose to keep their modifications private or make them public.
Several opensource projects funded by Sun Microsystems are licensed under SISSL, including OpenOffice, and Sun GridEngine.
