Sunda Islands - Definition and Overview

The Sunda Islands are a group of islands in west part of the Indonesian Archipelago. They are divided into two groups:

• Greater Sunda Islands
  • Borneo
  • Java
  • Sumatra
• Lesser Sunda Islands, from west to east
  • Bali
  • Lombok
  • Sumbawa
  • Flores
  • Sumba
  • Timor
  • Barat Daya Islands
  • Tanimbar Islands

The group is politically split between Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
