Sydney Smirke - Definition and Overview

Sydney Smirke (born 1798; died 1877) was a British architect during the 19th century.

His works include:

• The circular reading room at the British Museum
• The Derby Hall, Bury

He received the RIBA Gold Medal in 1860, and was professor of Architecture at the Royal Academy from 1861-5.
