Symbolic speech is an action that consists of no writing or speaking, but still express an opinion. Examples of symbolic speech are marching in a parade, or burning a flag. Although much symbolic speech is protected by law in the US, some acts of symbolic speech, such as buring a draft card, are not constitutionally protected and are punishable by law. |
