Taplow - Definition and Overview

Taplow is a village near Maidenhead, in England. It is in Buckinghamshire.

The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'Tæppa's hill'. It was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Thapeslau.

Taplow is currently home to Cliveden and the now abandoned Canadian Red Cross Memorial hospital which treated casualities during World War 1 and afterwards became a maternity hospital where most of the babies of the surrounding area where born, numbering approximately 60,000 over the years.
