Taproot (band) - Definition

Taproot is a nu metal band from Ann Arbor, Michigan formed in late 1997. Taproot was originally set to sign a deal with Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, but instead opted for another record deal with Atlantic Records. Here's how that happened. Taproot received an advance copy of Limp Bizkit's first album, Three Dollar Bill, Yall$, since Taproot were fans of Limp Bizkit before they hit mainstream. Taproot sent Durst a demo tape and Durst loved it. So, whenever Limp Bizkit was touring in Michigan, Durst would visit with them. Durst was intrested in signing them but he never did. Fed up with waiting, Taproot got signed to Velvet Hammer records with the help of System Of A Down. Durst was angry at this and sent a threatening message to frontman Stephen Richards answering machine. Taproot has become known in nu metal circles, touring with bands such as Papa Roach and KoRn. Taproot's new album tentively titled Blue-Sky Research is expected to be released on June 7th, 2005.
