Tassadar Tassadar

Tassadar - Definition

Tassadar is a fictional character in the StarCraft universe. He is a Protoss High Templar and pilots the Gantrithor, a Protoss Carrier.

Tassadar bears the title of 'Executor' until he is ostracised by the Judicator Caste for disobeying the orders of Aldaris, a member of the Protoss Conclave and a religious and military leader of the Protoss people. He believed as Aldaris did not in the need to respect the lives of the Terrans on Chau Sara in their quest to eradicate the Zerg. Tassadar's quest was eventually to rejoin the Dark Templar, a subcaste of the Protoss Templar originally from the Sargas tribe who were exiled from Aiur for refusing to follow the Khala, the religion of Protoss philosopher and reformer Khas. In this he is aided by the current Executor and the Terran Jim Raynor.

He eventually encounters one of the leaders of the Dark Templar, Zeratul. They return to Aiur where they must now battle two sets of enemies, the Protoss under the command of the Protoss Conclave and the Zerg. The Protoss eventually join Tassadar in his quest to preserve Aiur from the Zerg, but not before the Zerg overrun most of Aiur.

Tassadar eventually sacrifices his life to defeat the Zerg Overmind, charging the Gantrithor's hull with Dark Templar psionic energies and using the carrier as a kamikaze.

He is posthumously considered a saint of sorts to the Protoss, to judge from the way they begin to invoke his name in StarCraft: Brood War in the salutation 'En taro Tassadar', as compared to the earlier phrase 'En taro Adun'.
