Television South West - Definition and Overview |
Television South West (TSW) was the ITV franchise holder for the South West England region from January 1982 until December 1992, broadcasting from the former Westward Television studios in Plymouth, Devon. Like their predecessor TSW rarely produced anything for the ITV Network. One prgramme networked was a series named Tube Mice which was a cartoon about mice who lived beneath the London Underground.
TSW were a fiercely regional company i.e. they would declare themselves as a channel in their own right rather than being part of a network, meaning that ITV branding would rarely be seen in the region. It was for this reason (being too regional) that they lost their franchise to Westcountry Television.
