DC Comics has featured two superheroes with the name Tempest. One is Joshua Clay, a member of the Doom Patrol. Clay learned of his power to gererate powerful energy blasts while fighting in Vietnam. He joined the misfit superhero team while a fugitive AWOL.
Aqualad has also taken on the name "Tempest" after outgrowing his former status as a "kid sidekick."
