Terraplane Terraplane

Terraplane - Definition

The Terraplane was a car first built in 1932 by the Hudson Motor Car Company. The Terraplane was an inexpensive yet powerful vehicle that was used both in town and country as both cars and trucks bore the Terraplane name. The Terraplane was produced until 1939, when Hudson simply called its low end model the 112.

Blues singer, Robert Johnson famously wrote and sang The Terraplane Blues, as his car, a Terraplane, had its battery run down and it could not start. Johnson suspected that his girlfriend let another man drive it when he was gone.
