The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge, one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of eight stories in the cycle collected as His Last Bow. The story consists of two sections: The Singular Experience of Mr. John Scott Eccles and The Tiger of San Pedro.
Synopsis
The Singular Experience of Mr. John Scott Eccles
Mr. John Scott Eccles is a guest in Wisteria Lodge, near Esher, Surrey, where he has the "incredible and grotesque experience" of waking up in the morning to find the house completely empty. He consults Holmes, but while he is telling his story, Inspector Baynes of the Surrey police force arrests him on the charge of murdering his host, Garcia, whose body had been found in a field.
The Tiger of San Pedro
Holmes and Baynes between them find a dark secret coming out of the plot, including South American politics and Voodoo. Holmes is confident that he will solve the case, but for once the police are a step ahead of him, and it is Baynes who discovers the true identity of the killer!
