Synopsis
This story introduces Holmes's older brother Mycroft. Although Mycroft's logical abilities are superior to Sherlock's, he is a lazy, apathetic character who rarely uses his powers to their full potential.
In the story a Greek interpreter, Mr. Melas, is taken to a mysterious location on the outskirts of London and forced to act as an intermediary between two Englishmen and their Greek, emaciated captive. Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Watson and Mycroft Holmes, after the case is brought to their attention by Melas, attempt to save the captive and prevent Melas's revenge killing.
