The American Conservative is biweekly magazine published by Pat Buchanan, Scott McConnell, and Taki Theodoracopolous. It is intended to represent a traditionalist, anti-war, paleoconservative voice against the dominance of what its publishers see as a neoconservative establishment. The American Conservative began publishing in 2002.
Though it was started in opposition to George Bush's administration and the War in Iraq in 2004, it didn't take a stand on George W. Bush's re-election, running editorals in support of Bush (written by Buchanan), John Kerry, Ralph Nader and Constitution Party candidate Michael Peroutka, and an editoral urging TAC readers not to vote.
