The 2001 album The Argument was the eighth full-length album from the seminal alternative rock band, Fugazi, and released by Dischord Records, which Ian MacKaye co-owns. It was recorded at Inner Ear Studios and the Dischord House between January and April 2001 and released on October 16, 2001.
The Argument brought the band perhaps the furthest they have come yet from their shared hardcore punk roots. In his four-star review for Rolling Stone, Arion Berger called The Argument "a bracing corrective to the misconceptions of punk's original intent." [1] (http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/cd/review.asp?aid=2043329&cf=339) The Washington Post went so far as to call the lyrics "Kafkaesque" and said at least one of the tracks "could pass for a Radiohead B-side."
