The Beekeeper is the name of an album by singer/songwriter Tori Amos. It will be released on Februrary 22nd of 2005 and incorperates celtic choirs and african drums. The first single, "Sleeps With Butterflies," was shipped to radio in early January 2005 and immediately recieved heavy airplay, particularly on adult alternative radio. By January 16th the entire album had already leaked to the internet and was heavily being exchanged in mp3 format by fans.
Notable is the song "Parasol" which makes direct reference to the Seurat painting Seated Woman With a Parasol. Also noteworthy, Jamaica Inn retells the story of that famous novel and Alfred Hitchcock film through song.
Early reviews described the album as Amos' most lyrically accessable, abandoning her penchant for obtuse metaphor in favor of extremely straight-forward lyrics.
The album ranked at #76 for Top 100 Albums of 2005 by Rate Your Music.
