The Bent Scepters - Definition and Overview

The Bent Scepters are a garage rock group that formed in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1991. Originally conceived as a side project of another, more serious band, The Dangtrippers, the group started playing shows at a local live-music venue called Gabe's Oasis, opening for regional acts such as Minneapolis bands The Magnolias and The Blue Hippos.

The group's original lineup consisted of Doug Roberson (vocals, guitar), Dan Roberson (vocals, percussion), Patrick D White (vocals, guitar, Farfisa organ), Scott Stecklein (bass guitar) and Dave Parsons (drums).

After an initial, cassette-only recording entitled Bikinis, Guitars and Martinis, the group went on to release several other compact discs, including Blind Date With Destiny (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000001PIK/ref=m_art_li_1/102-1223683-9516931?v=glance&s=music) and Hellevator Music (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000JGM9/qid=1100206016/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-0123177-8370421?v=glance&s=music).

The group toured the Midwest heavily in the late 1990s, occasionally venturing out to the East and West Coasts.

After co-writer White moved to France in 1999, the group disbanded.

White returned to the United States in 2001, after which, the band started playing occasional reunion shows. The Bent Scepters, circa 2003:
