The Brothers Grimm - Definition and Overview

The Brothers Grimm (2005) is the new movie from director Terry Gilliam.

This film was supposed to be released in November 2004 in theaters, but it was delayed, with the new release date being July 29, 2005.

Plot

This movie is about two brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, who are making a living out of protecting villagers from fantasy and enchanted creatures, till they meet real magic.

Delayed?

One rumour says that it could be due to screening tests results that led the studios to ask for some reshoots and Mr Gilliam is actually working on another project Tideland.
Another says that it's related to financial reasons, Miramax/Dimension being too short on budget to release the movie in 2004. The movie release being marketingly positionned to July, it has been pushed by over half a year
A third one says it's somewhat related to Terry Gilliam and producers (the Weinstein bros) disagreement that lead to removing Gilliam's name from the writing credits
With Miramax/Disney becoming shaky there is some fear that this movie may never be released.

Trivia

• Johnathan Pryce has already worked with Terry Gilliam. he was playing The Right Ordinary Horatio Jackson in The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen and Sam Lowry in Brazil.
• Samantha Morton was vetoed out of the film by the producers. The Weinstein brothers have forbidden Terry Gilliam to cast her for the movie.
