The Curse of Peladon is a four episode Doctor Who serial broadcast from 29 January - 19 February 1972 and starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor
Synopsis
The Doctor lands with Jo Grant on the planet of Peladon, just as delegates from the Galactic Federation arrive to consider its membership application, and are mistaken for the Earth Delegation. The other delegates are Delegate Alpha Centauri, a hermaphrodite hexapod, Delegate Arcturus, a small green tentacled head in a machine box and the two delegates from Mars, Delegate Izlyr and Sub-Delegate Ssorg, the Ice Warriors.
The mythical Curse Of Peladon strikes, first killing Chancellor Torbis who supports the move to join the Federation, and then other Delegates are also attacked. Soon The Doctor is accused of these crimes and sentenced to death. He is amazed to that his only allies seem to be his old enemies, the Ice Warriors. He is forced to duel with the King's champion, Grun, and wins. Arcturus then attempts to kill him but Ssorg, the Ice Warrior, kills Arcturus before he succeeds.
Hepesh, the King's high priest seizes control of the throne room and reveals he was the one who released Aggedor, the "mythical" creature upon which the legend of the curse is actually based. He threatens to kill the King but The Doctor bursts in with Ageddor and it kills Hepesh. King Peladon asks Jo to stay but she refuses, and departs with The Doctor.
