The Dalton School - Definition and Overview

The Dalton School, originally called the Children's University School, is a school in New York City. Currently located at 108 East 89th Street, it was founded by Helen Parkhurst in 1919. The school originally operated (and to some extent still operates) according to Parkhurst's Dalton Plan which is also the basis of several other private schools around the world. Ellen Stein, an alumna, is the current Head of School. Notable alumni include Chevy Chase and Anderson Cooper.
