The Fighting Seabees is a 1944 film starring John Wayne and Susan Hayward.

John Wayne plays the boss of a construction firm in the Pacific. After constant interference from the Japanese, Wayne's character persuades US Navy chiefs to form Construction Battalions (CB)s, or SeaBees, who could beat off the enemy attacks and carry on with their tasks.

John Wayne received a lot of criticism for staying in Hollywood during the war when other actors like James Stewart and David Niven were 'doing their bit'. (Stewart flew with the United States Army Air Force and Niven served in the British Army).
