The Flying Pickets - Definition and Overview

The Flying Pickets are an a capella vocal group that had a hit with a cover of Yazoo's Only You.

The group was formed in 1982 by a group of actors, the "7:84 Theatre group", a fringe theatre group who had sung a capella in their production of One Big Blow, based on the 1982 UK miner's strike. Their debut single was the British Christmas number one in 1983, and also did well around Europe. Their original lead singer, Brian Hibbard, went on to star briefly in Coronation Street, and has since appeared regularly on Welsh television. The group has had limited success since, though a new lineup continues to tour under the name.
